What datasets will be available?

data.ca.gov
Water Quality Portal

The State of California is developing an open data portal at data.ca.gov that currently contains several water-related datasets, and the National Water Quality Monitoring Council maintains a data portal housing water quality information from Federal agencies at http://www.waterqualitydata.us/. Users can easily download data in a machine readable format from both of these sites.

In addition, a wide range of water-related datasets can be obtained directly from the agencies that collect and maintain water data in California. To help contestants get oriented to these agencies and their datasets, the table below provides some example datasets for different categories of data, including groundwater, surface water and environmental conditions, urban, irrigation, water-energy, and other general data. However, this isn’t an exhaustive list, so feel free to search for and use any other publicly available datasets that help you gain insights into California’s water issues and address the challenge questions.

It is a key index of the physical, chemical, biological state of the northern reach of the San Francisco Estuary.")

Cal-Adapt is a collection of data sets and tools that project temperature and precipitation under different climate change scenarios. The latest version, included here as a beta Cal-Adapt 2.0, offers higher resolution data based on a new method (localized constructed analogues) that improves descriptions of extreme temperatures and spatial distribution of precipitation, both of which are critical for understanding climate-related risks such as heat waves and inland flooding.
